So Easy To Be Discouraged

So I had this image in my mind that I would write Rynado (with Pavel’s amazing drawings and help) and then as soon as people saw it, folks would start sharing their stories of their journeys and begin clamoring for the next volume. And the book would get noticed, and then more people would share their stories, and then more books would be sold, and the community would grow.

So I’ve sent out a few copies of the draft books to select organizations hoping for some feedback. If I had a nickel for every cricket I’ve heard in response, I’d have just ‘bout a dollar.

So I begin to worry if I’ve used all of this time and Pavel’s talents to share a story that either people don’t want to hear or that I am not telling in the right way. Does their silence mean it was so bad that they are speechless? Perhaps our story was so unique that there is no community of parents like us out there and that we felt lonely for a good reason.

I’ll be sending out another round of books in the coming days and see if someone (anyone!) will provide some feedback.

One thing is for sure, though. No one has been giving any false praise.

Until next time, Odi
